We, the people of Haven, solemnly swear to uphold the values and beliefs of trancendentalism. We promise to rely on ourselves, but help those in despair. We promise not to live in excess, to use, and to have only what is needed.
Location
Haven is located within a deep forest near a river. The river is essential as it provides us with a source of water and a steady supply of fish. The river is located deep within the forest and is not widely traveled so it is pristine. It also provides fruit bearing trees with water so that they can grow for our food. This makes the riverside in the forest an ideal location for our village. The village itself is located right on the riverside and is built from materials found in the environment.
Jobs
Although our society has a policy of self-reliance, some people are better at some things than others. For example, some people may be skilled carpenters and would be good at building shelters. Other people may be more suited to hunting or gathering food and collecting water. The work is split up evenly and each member of the community would do his or her fair share of work to help sustain the village.
Money system
There is no real money in Haven. Our society uses a trading system. In this system a person trades something that someone else needs for something that he or she needs.This simple system eliminates debt so people don't need to be concerned with paying others back and can concentrate on other things.
Laws
Law 1: Kill animals only for food, never hunt for sport, and never kill a fellow human being. Punishment for trophy hunting is banishment. Punishment for murder is emediate exicution.
Law 2: Do not ever steal. Stealing food means that you aren't relying on yourself and punishment is 1 day without food. Stealing items shows lack of self reliance and living in excess for which the punishment is stripping of your possessions for 3 days.
Law 3: Do not bring the modern world in to our society. This would taint our society and pull us away from our views. The punishment for this crime is banishment.
